WOODWORKING
Working on the lathe in my community college makers lab shaped the way I think about design at every scale. What began as an intimidating machine became a place where I learned patience, precision, and respect for material. Turning raw wood into pens, candlesticks, and a handmade clock taught me how subtle adjustments affect proportion, balance, and tactility, all of which translate directly into architecture. The process demanded focus, iteration, and a willingness to embrace mistakes, reinforcing that craftsmanship and design are inseparable. Collaborating with supportive classmates and mentors, especially Eddie Maximo, also showed me how creative growth is rooted in shared knowledge and hands-on exploration. These experiences grounded my design approach in making: understanding materials, celebrating detail, and valuing the human touch behind every object and space.
